Michelle's journey into the world of art was shaped by her upbringing and a profound piece of advice from her father, himself an artist. "Make your own marks," he would say, instilling in her the importance of authenticity and self-expression. Armed with this wisdom, Michelle embarked on a path that would lead her to become a beacon of creativity in the art world.
Her artistic odyssey began at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where she pursued her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting. It was here that Michelle honed her craft, drawing inspiration from the breathtaking landscapes of the American West. After completing her studies, she followed her heart to Denver, Colorado, where she established her own gallery, Westward Gallery.
For seven years, Westward Gallery served as a sanctuary for artists and art enthusiasts alike, a space where creativity knew no bounds. Michelle's own art adorned the walls of the gallery, each piece a testament to her boundless imagination and unwavering dedication to her craft.
Michelle's work has garnered acclaim far and wide, finding its way into public and private collections across the globe. From corporate giants like Chevron and Wells Fargo to esteemed medical institutions like Mid-Michigan Medical Center and the New Lutheran Hospital in Denver, her art has left an indelible mark on the world.
Her daughter, Kelsey, is a third-generation artist after her grandfather and her mother, Michelle. She is known for painting many well-known scenes in Denver, Colorado, such as Pete’s Kitchen, Lakeside Amusement Park, and Chucks Diner. Kelsey paints the urban side of Denver, while Michele paints more of the natural landscape.
