October has been a spooky, hands-on kind of month: paint on fingers, paper scraps on tables, and gallery walls that got a little macabre in the best way. Whether you caught every moment or need a quick catch-up, here's what's happened so far and what's still ahead.
Our Walls Got Spooky
On First Friday, 10/2, we opened our October show with William Thidemann, Brett Herman, and Matt Hayes of Mammoth American Tattoo: spooky paintings and flash-tattoo-style pieces for anyone who likes a little macabre in their aesthetic. It's one of our favorite spooky events at Tenn Street Coffee, and you can take home every piece when the show comes down at the end of the month.
Creepy-Cute Crafting with Infinite Art Studio
Our friends at Infinite Art Studio kept the creative energy going all month. On 10/4, they brought back their Halloween collage pop-up: vintage ghouls, moody moons, creepy-cute critters, and a table full of paper scraps made for a relaxed, guided Sunday morning that was open to every age and skill level. The best thing about collage is that nobody has to be an artist. You cut, you arrange, you glue, and you see what happens.
Then on 10/18, they were back for DIY Magnet Makin', where ten woodcut ghost designs (some spooky, some sweet) turned into one-of-a-kind painted keepsakes, with paints, tools, and embellishments on the table.
Fall Lattes & the Denver Fall Coffee Crawl
All month, we've been one of 10+ independent Denver coffee shops on the Denver Fall Coffee Crawl. If you've got a Crawl Pass, your $5 welcome credit is good here through 10/31: tap Redeem at the register and just cover the difference. Your Coffee Club stars still stack, too. The seasonal lineup is in full swing with a Pumpkin Spice Latte, S'mores Latte, Apple Cinnamon Latte, Hot Cider Latte, and Hummingbird Latte, and they pair beautifully with a Bonfire Burrito or a Chicken Salad Sandwich.
Tomorrow: Meet Author Nicki Runge
Tomorrow, Saturday, 10/24, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM, we're hosting Colorado-based Deaf writer, actress, and filmmaker Nicki Runge to celebrate her debut novel, Songless War: The Shadows of Memory. It's the first book in a planned nine-book dark fantasy saga, and American Sign Language isn't just represented in this world. It is the magic system. Nicki started dreaming up this story as a teenager, decades before she sat down to write it.
It's free and come-and-go. Chat with Nicki about the book and what's next in the series, get your copy signed (grab one from us or bring your own), and ask about Jenna, Taffy, and Aleu, the three dogs at the heart of the story. Learn more at nickirunge.com.
Mahjong 101 Kicks Off November
The Mahj Squad is back on Sunday, 11/1, from 1-3 PM, guiding beginners from "never touched a tile" to "confident enough to sit at any table." Registration includes a guided two-hour lesson, a Mahjong 101 Handbook to keep, and a signature Tenn Street Coffee drink just for registrants. Registration is required, and spots are limited, so sign up here. Bonus: clocks fall back that morning, so you'll have an extra hour to play with.
Charlie Milo Trio Returns 11/13
If you caught them last time, you already know. If you didn't, here's your second chance: the Charlie Milo Trio is coming back to Tenn Street on Friday, 11/13, from 11 AM to 1 PM to play live background music, just like they did before. Their jazz-funk grooves and improvisational exploring make a pretty perfect soundtrack for a midday coffee break. Work, read, grab a Chicken Panini, or simply soak it in. Come for the caffeine, stay for the groove.
A Quick Coffee Club Reminder
While you're planning your next visit, don't forget your stars are adding up. Earn stars with every purchase, unlock exclusive member discounts, and take advantage of bonus star days: 1.5x on Mondays & Thursdays from 3-5 PM, and 2x on Wednesdays from 2-5 PM. Birthday rewards and first access to event announcements are just a sign-up away, whether you sign up in-store or at tennstreetcoffee.com.
Thank You, Neighbors
Thank you for making October feel so unhurried and so Tennyson. To our artists, authors, and craft partners, and to everyone who painted a ghost, grabbed a Crawl Pass, or stopped in for a latte and a long browse: you're the reason this corner of Denver feels like a place to stay awhile.
